Add custom instructions

Provide custom instructions to add preferences or requirements that you’d like the AI to consider when generating its responses. All GPT for Sheets executions in the current spreadsheet will take these instructions into account.

Prerequisites

You have opened a Google spreadsheet and selected Extensions > GPT for Sheets and Docs > Open.

1. In the GPT for Sheets sidebar, click Settings > Custom instructions.
   
   


2. Select Custom behavior and enter your own instructions, or choose a predefined option from the dropdown.

When you select an option from the dropdown, you can modify the predefined instructions.

All GPT for Sheets executions within your spreadsheet will use your custom instructions. If you make new executions or regenerate existing GPT formulas, the output will take these new instructions into account.
