Auto-replace formulas

When you execute a formula in a cell, it shows the result while keeping the formula as the cell content, which is impractical for making manual edits. The Auto-replace formulas feature allows you to work directly with the results generated by GPT functions immediately after they run, and also ensures quicker execution times. Auto-replace formulas is available only for requests made with Safe mode enabled, and the model used is gpt-4, gpt-4-turbo or the function used is GPT_WEB.

Enable this feature when:

  • You're confident the result will be good and you want to get the raw result directly in the cell.
  • You want to launch between 2,000 and 10,000 executions at once (it will be much faster).
Prerequisites
You have opened a Google spreadsheet and selected Extensions > GPT for Sheets and Docs > Open.
  1. In the GPT for Sheets sidebar, click Settings.

  2. Enable Safe mode.

  3. Enable Auto-replace formulas.

Auto-replace formulas is now enabled and will be used for all executions with GPT-4, GPT-4-turbo models, and GPT_WEB.

When you drag a formula to apply it to multiple cells, the result is now written directly in the cells instead of the formula.
The starting cell isn't replaced, so the original formula is preserved. The last cell of the range isn't replaced either, so you can later reuse the formula to drag it again.
