Add and remove users
As your team grows and changes, you can add and remove users from your GPT for Work space to ensure only the right people have access to the space and its resources.
Prerequisites
You are the owner or an admin of the space.
Add users to your team
You can add users to your team at any time by inviting them to your space.
When you invite a user to your space, they join your pricing model and lose access to their own personal space for as long as they're on your team.

Team management is available on Business and Enterprise plans. Each user in your space takes up a seat, so you need an available seat for every user you invite. If your space has no available seats, add seats first.
-
Sign in to the GPT for Work dashboard with the account that you use for your space.
-
In the sidebar, select Users. The page header shows how many of your seats are in use.
-
Click Invite users.
-
Enter the email addresses of the users you want to invite, separated by commas or spaces.

-
Click Send invitations.
You have successfully invited users to your space. You can resend or cancel an invitation while its status remains Pending. A pending invitation takes up a seat until the user accepts it or you cancel it.
Seat assignment for new users
Every seat comes with its own monthly usage credits, which reset at the start of each billing cycle. When a user leaves your space, their seat becomes empty but keeps whatever monthly usage credits are left for the current cycle.
When you invite a new user, they are assigned the empty seat with the most remaining monthly usage credits. This gives the new user as much usage as possible for the rest of the cycle.
For example, your space is on a Business plan with 3 seats, each with $25 in monthly usage credits:
-
Seat 1 is taken by an active user.
-
Seat 2 is empty, with $4 of its monthly usage credits remaining.
-
Seat 3 is empty, with $19 of its monthly usage credits remaining.
If you invite a new user, they are assigned seat 3 and can use its remaining $19 until the end of the billing cycle. At the next renewal, all seats are reset to $25.
You can invite as many users as you need. Every user draws on the same credit balance. To keep usage under control, set spending limits for your space and for individual users.

Remove users from your team
You can remove users from your team at any time by removing them from your space. When you remove a user from your space, they return to their own personal space and its pricing model. They can still use the GPT for Work add-ons, but they no longer have access to your space's credits, API keys, API endpoints, or other setup.
The space owner cannot be removed. If you want to remove the space owner from the team, you must transfer ownership to another user first.

Removing a user frees up their seat, but it does not change your seat count or your invoice. To pay for fewer seats, remove the unused seats as well.
-
Sign in to the GPT for Work dashboard with the account that you use for your space.
-
In the sidebar, select Users.
-
In the users list, click the three horizontal dots (…) for the user you want to remove and select Remove user. If the user has yet to accept their invitation to the space, select Cancel invitation instead.
You have successfully removed the user from the space. When they next sign in to the dashboard, they only see their personal space, not your team space. The seat they occupied is now empty and available for a new user.
Removing a user does not affect your credit balance. The credits the user has already consumed are not refunded, and the remaining credits stay available to the rest of your team.
