Refresh GPT formulas manually

Re-execute GPT formulas in selected cells, errors, or in the entire sheet to update results when inputs change, errors are fixed, or new outputs are needed.

Prerequisites
  • You have opened a spreadsheet containing GPT formulas.
  • You have opened the GPT for Sheets and Docs add-on by clicking Extensions > GPT for Sheets and Docs > Open.

Refresh formulas in selection

  1. Open the GPT formulas controls dropdown.

  2. Check that the GPT formulas aren't paused and that caching is disabled for your spreadsheet.

  3. Select the cell(s) which contain formulas you want to refresh in the current sheet.

  4. Click In selection in the Refresh GPT formulas section.

  5. (Optional) Pause the formulas again to prevent any further execution, in this sheet and the rest of the document.

GPT formulas within the selected cells are refreshed.

Refresh errors only

After troubleshooting GPT for Sheets errors, you can refresh all GPT formulas in cells tagged with #ERROR! or #VALUE!.

  1. Open the GPT formulas controls dropdown.

  2. Check that the GPT formulas aren't paused for your spreadsheet.

  3. Click Errors only under the Refresh GPT formulas section.

  4. (Optional) Pause the formulas again to prevent any further execution, in this sheet and the rest of the document.

All GPT formulas that were on error in the current sheet are refreshed. If some errors persist, let us know by submitting a support request so we can assist you further.

  1. Open the GPT formulas controls dropdown.

  2. Check that the GPT formulas aren't paused and that caching is disabled for your spreadsheet.

  3. Click In sheet under the Refresh GPT formulas section.

  4. (Optional) Pause the formulas again to prevent any further execution, in this sheet and the rest of the document.

All GPT formulas in the current sheet are refreshed.

Formula refresh limit

Working with selections larger than 10,000 cells may negatively impact performance. For best results, keep the number of GPT formulas on one sheet under 10,000.
