Train GPT for Excel with your files

OpenAI Assistants can be used as models in GPT for Excel to tailor your results based on specific instructions and data. This guide shows how to use assistants to generate product descriptions for a shoe retailer, incorporating customer reviews and marketing briefs. You'll learn to set up an assistant, upload files, and use it from GPT for Sheets for personalized content creation within GPT for Excel.

  1. Create an OpenAI Assistant in your OpenAI platform.

  2. Upload the files that will be used to generate content using File search.

  3. (Recommended) Try executions in the OpenAI Playground to understand the cost before using it massively.

  4. Open the GPT for Excel add-on, and set up your OpenAI API key.

  5. Select the assistant in the model switcher in GPT for Excel.

  6. Use the Custom prompt bulk tool to generate content based on the files uploaded to the assistant.

    The assistant creates a description in Google Sheets when you provide a product ID.

The assistant searches for information in the files uploaded and uses it to generate content in the selected column. The Instructions as well as Temperature and Top P settings defined during the assistant creation are taken into account in GPT for Excel.
